My grandmother grew up on a ranch in the San Francisco bay area. just as her parents had done. During the early mornings after the ranch work was done, my young grandmother would ride her horse to school. There she would tie it up and return on it after the day's studies were finished.
When she was 15 my grandma met my grandfather. Shortly after they met, my grandpa sought out work on her father's ranch. He was hired, and moved in with her on the cattle ranch (at the opposite end of the hall per her father's orders he told me at her funeral). They lived together for the next 70 years.
My grandmother was an influential part in my upbringing. It wasn't until after she passed that I fully realized how much she had contributed to molding the person I am today. She taught me to see the best in everyone and to not work too hard. I have included my favorite picture of my grandparents. My grandmother is saying goodbye to my grandpa as he leaves for WWII to fight in Okinawa, Japan. I have hundreds of pictures and things from the late 1800's and early 1900's that my grandmother saved, I should start a blog solely for those! Let me know in the comments.
